Creative Commons Virtual Global Summit

The session will engage the audience in the conversation about unintended consequences of open and free content in late capitalism. From the usage of CC-licensed images for facial recognition training, to the lock-in of free content provided by volunteers into proprietary products that don’t give back to the society in the same form - what should be our movement’s response? Should we even care about cooptation of open content into surveillance and unethical practices? And if yes, is there anything we can do to ensure the unintended consequences be prevented?
