Open education and open educational resources are becoming increasingly popular within policies and practices in different levels of education within the Southern African region. This presentation summarises the main findings and trends of a systematic review done of research within this area since 2010. In addition, the focus is here on how Creative Commons features within this corpus of research. Finally, this presentation presents general trends in research as well as gaps for further investigation in the region and possible outreach ideas to overcome some of the problems.
