Student-powered commons. What would students put in the textbook if they had the choice?

What would a textbook created by students look like? I decided to find out. The students in my biology classes are collaboratively writing a textbook. The first class built an outline, the second identified good sources, the third and fourth started the first draft. Next time we will begin editing and creating learning ancillaries. The goal of the project is to invite students into the educational commons. They learn about Creative Commons licensing and how knowledge is shared. I will discuss the structures of the assignments and student responses to this learning strategy. Slides Link.
