This proposal outlines ways in which instructional designers and instructional design departments can advocate for and support open education adoptions and practices in online education. It examines strategies for forming alliances with key faculty, administrators, libraries, and student government associations, all of which can be instrumental in helping to articulate and implement an open agenda at colleges and universities.
