The Wikimedia movement is one of the most effective communities bringing a public to the "commons", scaling participation in commons production by harnessing diverse motivations and interests in public knowledge. This session will share lessons from the Movement Organizers research and upcoming work on supporting Wikimedia campaigns , like #1lib1ref, Art+Feminism and #WikiForHumanRights, and explore how the Wikimedia movement is breaking out "beyond" the silo of technical and "open" communities to effectively engage a wide range of other expert, activist and general interest motivations.
